Push email has long been asociated with the BlackBerry. If you have a mobile device that doesn’t yet push your email straight through, help may be at hand from Emblaze, which is offering the first free, downloadable push email service.

The program works by installing a connector into your PC’s email client which pushes received email to the emoze distribution network from where it is intelligently pushed to your mobile device. The connector currently requires Microsoft Outlook with Lotus Notes and Outlook Express support coming soon. The system is also able to retrieve email from webmail programs, including Hotmail, Yahoo Mail and Gmail via POP3 connections.

Easy2Sync for Outlook allows you to synchronize your Outlook Inbox with a second computer across the network. Just select the local profile or PST file, and the target profile or PST file and start the synchronization. The program allows you to confirm which actions will be taken (optional deletion, synchronization, overwrite etc.). It synchronizes not only the messages, but also their status, including Outlook flags, so if a message it marked read in the mirror, it will be marked read in the source as well. MessageLock for Outlook 2003 is an email encryption plug-in for Microsoft Outlook 2003, that enables you to easily send encrypted messages and/or compressed attachments. It can transparently encrypt outgoing messages, if the option is selected from the newly added toolbar buttons, and automatically keep track of passwords, so you can use an individual password for each recipient, without having to re-enter it every time you send an encrypted message. For full functionality, the program requires that both the sender and receiver have purchased and installed MessageLock, in which case the software will automatically decrypt incoming messages,making the entire process fully transparent. Microsoft has begun a limited beta test of its upcoming Windows Live Mail Desktop. The offering is intended to provide users of Windows Live Mail and Hotmail with client-side access to e-mail services. While such a feature was previously only available to paid subscribers, Live Mail Desktop would expand the offering to all users.

The Windows Live Mail Desktop client will be similar to Outlook Express in the way it operates, but it is optimized to integrate Microsoft’s Live platform. The application would also provide functionality for users of Windows Live Contacts, Messenger, Spaces, and other such services.

When Windows Vista is launched early next year, the bundled mail program will not be called Outlook Express anymore. The new name is simply Windows Mail.
