Portable Email Clients

Portable email clients are those that can easily be installed on a USB drive and invoked on any computer.




Portable Thunderbird is a fully functional package of Thunderbird optimized for use on a USB key drive. It has some specially-selected optimizations to make it perform faster and extend the life of your USB key as well as a specialized launcher that will allow most of your favorite extensions to work as you switch computers. It will also work from a CDRW drive (in packet mode), ZIP drives, external hard drives, some MP3 players, flash RAM cards and more (Note: It will not run from read-only media like a CD-R).

Pegasus Mail has been around since 1991 which makes it one of the oldest surviving email clients today. It is the most powerful and robust free client available. Its only weak point is its somewhat strange UI, but if you need email power for free and don't mind the looks, this is the client for you.

Scribe is a small, but powerful and fast email client which can run from a removable drive. It comes with a highly accurate bayesian spam filter, an intergrated contact database and calendar. It supports all the major internet mail protocols and uses international standards where possible. The free version comes with support for one account only.

nPOP allows you to access e-mail on a POP3 mail server. It provides the function of common remote e-mail access. When you connect using nPOP, the mail is listed and you can see the headers only. From that list you can select e-mail you want to receive on your Pocket PC or PC. This is more efficient than downloading all the e-mails.
